Lake Summit, "The Jewel of the Appalachians" TM is nestled in the picturesque Southern Appalachian Mountains just minutes from Historic Hendersonville, Flat Rock, & Saluda. Greenville, Spartanburg, and Asheville are each about a 40 minute drive from the lake.
Covering 322 acres with around 10 miles of shoreline, Lake Summit is a very special place. Power is generated from the Northbrook Energy hydroelectric plant at the eastern end of the lake. There are just over 225 cottages with boathouses around the lake; most used as summer getaways. On the western end of the lake and along the headwaters of the Green River; Camps Greystone, Green Cove, Mondamin, and Falling Creek have long histories as great summer camps. The Green River is the main tributary for the lake and proudly carries the designation of "High Quality Waters (HQW)'". The Lake Summit Property Owners Association, along with various governing bodies, direct rules and regulations regarding power boating and construction.
